Designer

For me, designing is more than just creating a piece of furniture. Beyond the purely formal elements, I also envisage its full functionality and the impact it will have in its spatial context.

Designing gives me a deeper understanding of material, construction and function. Craftsmanship forms the foundations, technology provides the performance and nature brings the balance.

I start out by asking why. What do consumers, and the manufacturer, stand to gain from the project? Product innovations should always help enhance the development of the company and the product type.

Design is influenced by practical, ergonomic and aesthetic considerations. Yet what really drives us is the joy of developing sustainable products for people who live consciously.

Design is a process, and when you start, you don’t know where it will lead you. You try to weave together all kinds of creative influences to create something well-rounded and complete.

For me, it’s all about transforming creative energy into something of lasting value.
