The classic country-style kitchen
With its open shelves, cornices and gently rounded edges, rondo pays tribute to the traditional character of a country-style kitchen. Whimsical elements like the wooden cookery book holder or integrated knife block round off this kitchen’s warm and welcoming look. Right from the start, Karl Auer’s design focused the attention back on the qualities of wood in the kitchen, highlighting its antibacterial effect and its ability to neutralise odours and regulate humidity. Manageability and functionality are also key to rondo’s design: a top cabinet offering generous storage space for kitchen utensils is concealed behind a roller shutter, for example.
Ecology and aesthetics united
Born in Vienna in 1942, Karl Auer was instrumental at TEAM 7 for many years as a designer and art director. He is largely responsible for the manufacturer’s efforts to create environmentally conscious furniture that also exuded aesthetic appeal. In 1983, he designed the OPUS 1 range. Its gentle curves were a pioneering fusion of sustainability and the art of design, and soon became a celebrated icon in eco-friendly furniture. Until his retirement in 2008, Auer created various other pieces for TEAM 7, including the popular cubus furniture range and the sophisticated lunetto bedroom series.
