A work of art inspired by Joan Miró
Joan Miró’s playful visual language with its organic lines and shapes, so airy and utterly unconstrained, inspired Sebastian Desch to create the dining table that shares the Catalan artist’s name. His design aspired to achieve a similar sense of clarity to Miró’s works, yet it also needed to be fully thought out in terms of functionality and ergonomics. From the start, Desch’s imagination conjured up a kind of round object, floating freely in space like a UFO. His round table pays homage to both nature and artisanship. Its aesthetic appeal is defined just as much by cleverly crafted details and artisanal finesse as by the sleek-lined design and the beauty of the wood itself.
Pure design, perfect details
The hallmark of Sebastian Desch’s work is his ability to translate the versatility of wood into fresh and fascinating forms. The finely crafted details of his designs never demand all the attention – instead, they form a seamless part of a simple, timeless style that combines elegance with appealing warmth. As Head of Design, Desch has been defining the TEAM 7 brand since 2015 – with successful results: in recent years, he has been honoured with numerous international design accolades, including the iF Design Award, the Green Good Design Award and the Iconic Award.
