Our aspiration for TEAM 7 is to combine elevated interior design, Austrian craftsmanship and genuine sustainability to create unique furniture with character and soul. The various milestones we have reached along our company’s story of success to date show that we have chosen the right path, and that our way of designing furniture is being met with acclaim around the world.
1959 – COMPANY ESTABLISHED
Erwin Berghammer sets up a small joinery business in Ried im Innkreis. Driven by his pioneering spirit and innovative prowess, he quickly transforms the company into an ambitious enterprise. The brand name TEAM 7 is registered in as early as 1965. This stands for teamwork – one of the hallmarks of our company to this day – and for the seven managers running the business at the time.
1980 – A PIONEERING PRODUCER OF ECO-FRIENDLY SOLID WOOD FURNITURE
TEAM 7 switches over to fully organic production and now exclusively manufactures naturally treated solid wood furniture in line with its promise of providing pure solid wood: “The finest hardwood, assembled without formaldehyde, finished with natural oil – and that’s it”. With this visionary step, TEAM 7 becomes a genuine pioneer of eco-friendly furniture. The opus 1 furniture range is unveiled in 1982. Made from alder, a native wood type known for its rapid regrowth, this furniture is designed to last at least as long as a tree takes to grow.
1991 – OWN SOLID WOOD BOARD FACTORY SET UP
TEAM 7 establishes its own solid wood board factory in Pram (Upper Austria). Two years later, the company opens a specialist solid wood saw mill in Borsfa, Hungary. For the first time, it can cover the entire value-added chain from tree to finished product.
1999 – CHANGE IN MANAGEMENT
On 7 September 1999, exactly 40 years after TEAM 7 was founded, Erwin Berghammer hands over the managerial reins to Georg Emprechtinger. The son of a saw mill owner from the Innviertel area, he has roots in the local region and has had a special relationship with wood his whole life.
2000 – DESIGN MEETS NATURE
Under Georg Emprechtinger’s leadership, TEAM 7 develops a new, contemporary design style for solid wood furniture and leads the way in producing eco-friendly designer furniture. By switching to making custom-designed products to order, the company can fulfil its customers’ wishes and requirements right down to the finest details.
2004 – UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP
In 2004, Georg Emprechtinger becomes the new owner of TEAM 7. His way of doing business is guided by long-term decisions rather than a short-term focus on capital, laying the foundations for the company’s enduring success.
2005 – FIRST DESIGN AWARD FOR TEAM 7
TEAM 7 receives its first ever red dot design award for its magnum table with patented 2soft extension technology. Since then, we have won more than 20 international accolades, highlighting the premium quality of our furniture in terms of both design and functionality.
2007 – ENGINEERED NATURE
TEAM 7 is dedicated to producing pure solid wood furniture featuring timeless designs and trend-setting technology. To this day, our company is renowned for its tremendous capacity for innovation when it comes to developing visionary solutions for enhanced living comfort and customisation. The height-adjustable k7 cooking island launched in 2007 is just one example from a whole series of revolutionary design concepts.
2008 – TEAMWORK IN MANAGEMENT
Hermann Pretzl becomes part of the TEAM 7 management team and assumes responsibility for the entire production of boards and furniture. He works alongside owner Georg Emprechtinger as part of the successful and responsible leadership team at the head of our company.
2009 – SECOND FURNITURE FACTORY
TEAM 7 sets up a second furniture factory in Pram to boost its productivity and quality even further. Across an area spanning 5,000 sqm, cutting-edge production systems set new standards for precision and efficiency in manufacturing the company’s full range of tables and beds.
2010 – CERTIFIED ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Numerous international certifications relating to energy and the environment and quality and safety management offer proof of our sustainable approach. TEAM 7 fulfils stringent criteria and is certified to the globally recognised standards ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management). Our company has also held EMAS certification since 2011 for consistently doing business in a sustainable way.
2019 – LOGISTICS CENTRE OPENED
A new logistics centre is set up in Pram, measuring 7,000 sqm in size and equipped with cutting-edge hardware and software. This forms a key component in our value-added chain. The site area is doubled to 140,000 sqm, creating more space to allow our wood to be seasoned gently. An ultra-efficient energy centre is also built. Thanks to these infrastructural developments, TEAM 7 is now a more reliable and productive partner than ever.
2023 – TEAM 7 WORLD OPENED
Our vision becomes a reality. The new TEAM 7 World blends state-of-the-art technology with authentic craftsmanship. The result is a hub of inspiration and innovation that truly brings the art of living with wood to life. The eco-friendly building with low-tech features meets the highest possible design standards and offers a healthy and wholesome version of a modern working environment. A show kitchen with a sky bar, a restaurant serving organic food and a TEAM 7 flagship store covering 1,200 sqm are also incorporated into this multifunctional building concept.
2023 – THE NEXT GENERATION COMES ON BOARD
Georg Emprechtinger’s children step up to join their father in running the company, with son Stefan taking on a management role and daughter Elisabeth becoming Head of Marketing. Together, they plan to carry on the unique story of this family-owned and -operated business – a story of craftsmanship and tradition, and of pioneering innovative spirit.
