Above the car park, the stairwells are enclosed by a four-storey timber-frame construction made from glulam columns and beams. A total of 5,500 solid cubic metres of round timber were used for the beams, trusses, ceilings and exterior walls, 1,000 solid cubic metres of which came from the company’s very own forest. This quantity of wood grows back in Austria every 100 minutes and stores carbon from around 2,500 tonnes of CO₂ over the long term.

The cleverly sized window areas allow in the optimum amount of natural light, preventing overheating in the summer and maximising sunlight in the winter.

Maintenance platforms and suspended oak slats that we manufactured ourselves shoulder much of the shading burden and thus provide intelligent heat protection.

As well as providing space for recreation, green roofs also act as thermal insulation in winter and a heat shield in summer. Trees have been planted to shade the window areas on the ground floor and cool the street immediately outside, while cooling inner courtyards were also included in the plans.

Unsealed surfaces in the outdoor area allow rainwater to seep away.

There is no need for an air-conditioning system thanks to underfloor cooling and window ventilation that runs automatically during the night. The sprinkler system’s water supply is used as the energy source for floor cooling, supported by heat exchangers. Staff can control window ventilation, lighting and sun protection individually during the day.

Underfloor heating provides energy-efficient and pleasant temperature control for the entire building. We generate our own heat by using the biomass produced in making our wooden furniture. In addition, all the waste heat from our systems is stored in a 100,000-litre buffer storage system and reused to optimise our heating efficiency.

As well as purchasing green electricity from renewable sources, we also have solar panels on our TEAM 7 World building, on the façade of the energy centre and on the production halls to ensure a sustainable power supply for our entire site.

We deliberately avoided petroleum-based products and composites when we chose our building materials, instead opting for natural and recyclable materials that can later be returned unmixed to the value chain cycle. We wanted to involve regional partners and keep delivery routes as short as possible.

Inside the building, open-pore wooden surfaces create a healthy room climate, complemented by linoleum and clay casein floors that are free from harmful chemicals. The wood is sourced exclusively from sustainably managed forests. We used perlite and cellulose for heat insulation and acoustic fleece made from sheep’s wool for sound insulation.
